Michael Brett Young LIV CEO

Michael Brett Young was appointed Chief Executive Office of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) in June 2006.

In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the LIV identifies and meets the needs of its more than 14,000 members and approximately 150 staff.

Mr Brett Young also liaises with government and regulatory bodies from all around Australia and the Law Council of Australia.

As head of the state's peak body for lawyers and those who work with them in the legal profession, Mr Brett Young advocates on behalf of the profession and deals with issues including progression towards a national profession and harmonisation of laws.

Mr Brett Young was admitted to practice law in 1976 and is a former Managing Partner and Senior Executive Director of national law firm Maurice Blackburn Cashman.
