How to apply for Accredited Specialisation
Accredited Specialisation is offered bi-annually in 15 areas of law. To apply for Accredited Specialisation, practitioners must meet the following eligibility prerequisites:

Membership of the Law Institute of Victoria
-
A current practising certificate
-
At least five year’s experience in practice
-
Substantial involvement in the area of practice over the past three years
-
Successful completion of the prescribed assessment program

Assessment
Varying forms of assessment are employed to reflect the characteristics of legal practice and provide candidates different ways to demonstrate their expertise. Candidates undertake up to three components of assessment, examples are included below:

Formal written examination - the application of legal knowledge and procedures

Assignments based on mock files

Drafting exercises

Simulated interviews or practical advocacy exercises

Advisory Committees are comprised of senior members of the profession, academics and Victorian Bar members, who develop assessment tasks and mark examination papers - maintaining the elements of peer review.

Application Fee: $1100.00 (including GST)

Annual Fee: $400.00 (including GST)

Mutual recognition application fee: $110.00 (including GST)
