The President's Awards

The President’s Awards celebrate outstanding legal organisations and individuals who truly advance the legal profession, contribute to community or demonstrate excellence and innovation in legal practice in Victoria.

As nominations are judged by a panel of lawyers drawn from the legal profession, it is an opportunity for winners to be recognised by their professional peers as being the best in what they do. It is also an opportunity for you to nominate individuals or legal organisations that you feel should be recognised for their extraordinary achievements.

Message from the President

Excellence in the Victorian legal profession is recognized, celebrated and honored by the LIV’s President’s Awards. There are those among us who demonstrate stand-out skills and I urge you all to nominate and vote for these exceptional people. They might be in-house, at a top-tier commercial law firm or a community legal centre. Give credit where it is due to the lawyers in Victoria who make a difference. Michael Holcroft LIV President

President's Awards Selection Criteria

The LIV believes that the following values are vital for a progressive, innovative and community-focused future of the legal profession.

• Achievement - Excellence in academic or career capacity
• Leadership - Capacity for leadership
• Commitment - Commitment through service to the profession
• Innovation - Innovation and excellence in their field in ideas and/or practices
• Impact - Tangible contribution to the general community

General Selection Criteria

All nominees will be assessed against ONE or MORE of the following criteria:

• Made outstanding contributions to the general community
• Demonstrated professional excellence in legal practice
• Promoted or advanced the legal profession
• Demonstrated outstanding leadership or innovation

Specific selection criteria for Law Firm of the Year Award

In addition, judges for the Law Firm of the Year Award will also assess nominees against ONE or MORE of the following specific selection criteria:

• Application of innovative initiatives to enhance or improve staff development and wellbeing, corporate social responsibility or business success
• Application of strategic vision and leadership resulting in successful outcomes and changes in culture, strategy or business growth
• Commitment to corporate social responsibility
