This forum will consider current reforms, potential uniform legislation and Occupational Health & Safety guidelines around bullying. Where have these changes come from, and why?

Topics covered:

•    what bullying is and isn't

•    the wave of law reform (in criminal, safety and 'cyber-bullying' laws) that has been introduced in the past 18 months

•    whether this reform is appropriate and whether the law is effectively responding to the issue

•    how the law should respond in 'out-of-hours' bullying situations (e.g. over social media platforms) and whether vicarious liability needs to be looked at

•    the rise of high profile bullying and harassment cases founded on creative and innovative causes of action.

Moderated by: Virginia Masters, Senior Executive Lawyer, Australian Government Solicitor

Speakers:

•    Michael Harmer, Partner, Harmers Workplace Lawyers

•    Ms Nareen Young, CEO, Diversity Council Australia Ltd

•    Dr Helen Szoke, Race Discrimination Commissioner & former Commissioner of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission
