About Administrative Law and Human Rights

The Administrative Law and Human Rights (AL&HR) Section represents a broad range of legal issues ranging from administrative review, constitutional law and general human rights issues to specific matters relevant to Indigenous, refugee, migration, health, disability and discrimination law.

Objectives

  • Promote human rights and freedoms and by progressive measures (local, national and international) to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the people of Victoria and among the peoples of all jurisdictions;
  • Monitor legislative changes and consider and recommend law reform initiatives;
  • Conduct research and prepare written submissions to the LIV Council;
  • Strengthen relationships between the legal profession and the courts and tribunals, regulatory and administrative bodies and government;
  • Provide CPD events, which meet the professional development needs of practitioners working in administrative law and human rights; and
  • Promote the practice of administrative review and human rights law.
