Accredited Specialisation: Expressions of Interest Now Open
Expressions of interest for 2012 Accredited Specialisation program are now open in Succession Law.

On 27 October, an informal networking night for prospective Accredited Specialists will be hosted by the Law Institute of Victoria.
This is a free event open to LIV members only.

Attorney-General's Community Law Partnerships Pro-Bono Networking Event
The Federation of Community Legal Centres is hosting the Attorney-General's Community Law Partnerships Pro-Bono Networking Event on Wednesday 30 November 2011 from 5.00-7.00PM at Russell Kennedy, Level 12, 469 La Trobe Street Melbourne.
Attorney-General and Finance Minister, Robert Clark, will open the event. Guests from Community Legal Centres and firms will also speak.

Enduring Powers of Attorney
The Legal Practitioners Liability Committee (LPLC) has posted “Enduring Powers of Attorney: A New Risk Profile” which provides some extremely useful information regarding enduring powers of attorney on its website. It contains:
- Explanation of the new requirements for preparing executing, witnessing and revoking these powers of attorney which came into operation on 1 April 2004;
- A separate explanation of witnessing and certification issues; and
- A checklist for witnessing an enduring power of attorney.
As with all publications from the LPLC, the key areas of risk for practitioners are identified and information on how best to address those risks.

Commencing on 1 July 2010 new fees are payable in a number of courts and tribunals across Australia

The PELS operates a telephone advisory service each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00am to 1:00pm. This service can assist with wills and estates inquiries.
