Admission to Practice
The Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2008 (the rules) came into effect on 1 July 2008. These rules replace articles of clerkship with supervised workplace training (SWT) and make changes to the process of admission to practice.
Under the new rules, upon completing an approved training course and obtaining a Bachelor of Laws, to be admitted to practice in Victoria a law graduate needs to complete either a Practical Legal Training (PLT) program or Supervised Workplace Training (SWT).
