In March 2006, Professor Sue Campbell headed a Committee which conducted a review of legal education in Victoria. The 2006 Review of Legal Education Report made 47 recommendations to thoroughly overhaul legal education in Victoria. Victorian Attorney-General Rob Hulls said the government would give in-principle support to the recommendations, which include the proposal that Articles be replaced with Traineeships, formally referred to as Supervised Workplace Training (SWT).
The Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2008 (the Rules) commenced on 1 July 2008.
