Ethics Liaison Group Charter
The Ethics Liaison Group is committed to enhancing knowledge and understanding of best practice principles throughout the profession.
The group aims to:-
-
Assist practitioners and practices to attain the highest standard of practice.
-
Ensure greater understanding and compliance by practitioners with their duties to the Law, the Court, clients and fellow practitioners.
-
Develop an information exchange between the LIV and the profession in relation to ethical issues.
-
Assist practitioners to identify and resolve ethical issues and potential problems at the earliest possible stage, as a natural consequence of good practice.
-
Educate and develop practitioners’ skills in analysis of ethical issues as part of the program of continuing education.
-
Assist in the development of professional policy, systems, practice tools, education programs and other ethics support programs.
This approach will be achieved by the establishment of an ethics adviser or advisory committee within each legal practice. It is envisaged that the individual or the nominee of the respective committees will liaise with the LIV Ethics Committee and each other as the Ethics Liaison Group. This liaison will involve regular meetings and communications on topical ethical issues.
