The NLPR taskforce released its Interim Report On Key Issues And Funding (pdf).
The Interim Report  mainly focuses on the regulatory structure and addresses:

  1. The constitution of the National Legal Services Board
  2. The need for a National Legal Services Ombudsman
  3. The need for SCAG policy directions
  4. The role of SCAG in disallowing National Rules
  5. The application of certain provisions to ‘commercial or government’ clients
  6. The centralisation of admissions applications
  7. The conduct of compliance audits
  8. The funding for the proposed national regulatory bodies.

The LCA submission (pdf) to the Taskforce on the National Legal Profession Reform Project was submitted on 13 August 2010 and followed extensive consultation with its constituent bodies. The LIV provided submissions in both writing and at forums initiated by the Law Council.

Law Summer School: Federal Attorney General’s Speech

Hon Robert McClelland MP, Federal Attorney General, gave a speech at Law Summer School 2010 on Friday, 26 February 2010 on the topic of the National Legal Profession Reform (NLPR) Project.

Law Summer School is an annual CPD conference presented by the Law Society of Western Australia and the University of Western Australia.
