Steps to Qualified Practice

Education Requirements

Current education requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of Victoria are:

Victorian qualifications

A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a Victorian university, with passes in 11 specified subjects.

Interstate qualifications

A Bachelor of Laws from an interstate university and a Rule 4.14(2) certificate from one of Deakin, Latrobe, Monash or Melbourne Universities.

Contact the Board of Examiners for Legal Practitioners for further details on obtaining a rule 4.14(2) certificate.

Overseas qualifications

Holders of overseas qualifications should contact the Council of Legal Education for an assessment of their educational qualifications.
