Administration Coordinator – Accredited Specialisation

This is an exciting opportunity to work for the peak legal body representing Victorian lawyers. The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is a professional association with far reaching legal, community and political influence.

We are currently seeking an Administration Coordinator for the Accredited Specialisation team who will play a pivotal role in the coordination of operational aspects of the Accredited Specialisation Scheme. A primary focus of the role during the annual assessment period is to assist with planning and logistics to ensure that quality processes and outcomes are maintained for all candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and duties required to support Accredited Specialisation Board and Advisory Committees, including scheduling, project plans, committee support including administrative services; timetables of minutes, minute taking and providing all supporting material to committees.
  • Attend Accredited Specialisation Advisory Committee and Board meetings as required and take minutes and prepare these for circulation.
  • Overseeing the annual specialist compliance processes to ensure that processing applications, for assessment and re-accreditation (includes checking against policies for compliance) is completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Effectively implement and execute marketing initiatives designed to attract candidates to the program, including written communications, information pieces, advertising campaigns and event and information evenings.
  • Oversee records management; database maintenance and inquiry; management of iMIS and other spread sheets; maintain file records and processing for all specialisation fees.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong customer service ethos;
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and IMIS; and
  • Ability to work effectively with Committees and of Volunteers.

Auditor (Investigations)

The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is the peak legal body representing Victorian Lawyers with far reaching legal, community and political influence.

The LIV's Compliance Department is responsible for monitoring and investigating Victorian legal practitioners' compliance with the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Vic) (Uniform Law), pursuant to delegations from the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner (VLSB+C) under a service level agreement. 

The purpose of the Auditor (Investigations) role is to:

  • inspect and audit the trust records of law practices to identify risk, assess compliance with Uniform Law record keeping requirements, and determine the effectiveness of existing controls
  • investigate alleged breaches of the Uniform Law, including misappropriation of client monies and fraud, and prepare a brief of evidence to support the taking of disciplinary action or a criminal prosecution
  • educate legal practitioners about their trust account compliance obligations.

To be successful in this role, you will have forensic accounting, auditing and/or investigative experience, an excellent understanding of the trust accounting requirements under the Uniform Law, and an ability to quickly develop effective professional relationships with key stakeholders, including legal practitioners and the VLSB+C.

The position may also include project work from time to time, at the direction of the Manager Investigations.

The Legal Policy team represents, supports and advocates for the legal profession and the broader community through legal policy, reform and advocacy work. The team works closely with the LIV Council and its committees, with LIV members, committees, practice networks and interest groups.

LIV is seeking a lawyer to join its Legal Policy team, contributing to outstanding legal analysis and policy development.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the legal profession and the broader community. The role involves high profile and challenging work, engagement with leaders in the justice system, government and community, and the opportunity to advocate justice for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • The lawyer will be responsible for driving key legal policy development, law reform,strategic advocacy and projects in partnership with LIV members, LIV departments and other key stakeholders;
  • Leading, in collaboration with the Principal Lawyer and the General Manager Public Affairs and Legal Policy, you will be responsible for the development and management of influential law reform campaigns on issues of significance for the legal profession and broader community;
  • You will monitor legal, policy and other developments relevant to your area of expertise and delivering high quality relevant and up-to-date information and resources to assist legal practitioners; and

Knowledge & Skills

  • Australian legal practitioner (or eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate) with at least three years' experience post admission.
  • Experience in legal policy development and advocacy.
  • High level legal research skills, including an ability to interpret legislation.
  • Experience in negotiating and collaborating with key stakeholders on legal policy matters.

Marketing Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative Marketing Manager to join our Commercial Department. Drawing on your marketing qualifications, you will be responsible for managing the marketing of the LIV’s products and service offerings in order to achieve organisational and departmental KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead a small team of marketers to manage the execution of the LIV’s marketing plan, meeting defined KPIs and organisational budgets.
  • Provide strategic marketing insight to department heads as to how products and services might evolve and adapt to create greater penetration.
  • Manage and optimise marketing activities to ensure all campaigns are optimised to reach the maximum output.
  • Take a leading role in advocating and supporting the quality and reputation of the LIV brand across all channels.
  • Ensure the production and delivery of all marketing collateral, online and offline, ensuring the output is of high quality and aligned with brand positioning.

Knowledge & Skills

  • A record of achievement at a management level in marketing, preferably gained in a services marketing organisation.
  • Proven experience with analytics, ensuring that campaign ROI is tracked, optimised and reported on, with a focus on achieving KPIs.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills, including the ability to positively liaise and negotiate with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage projects from inception through to execution.

We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with strong experience with eDM platforms (Marketo). A marketing background in the legal sector or not for profit background is preferred but not essential.
