    Are you an Accredited Specialist in criminal law or an experienced practitioner in this area? Join us for a very special year-in-review event as we unpack key developments from the last 12 months and share knowledge that will set you up for the year ahead. Enjoy an interactive evening with our expert speakers and hear and debate the updates in criminal law you need to know about. Following the session, you will have the opportunity to network with your peers over drinks and nibbles.

    The session will cover:

    • Standard Sentencing with a look at key cases and interpretation of the new scheme
    • Changes to the Sentencing Act 1991 (Vic) including changes to ‘special reason’ exemptions under section 10A and the introduction of Mandatory Treatment and Monitoring Orders (MTMO’s)
    • Changes to the Bail Act 1977, relevant cases and the practical operation of the Bail and Remand Court; and
    • Key practical changes in criminal law including:
      • the new DNA acquisition powers under the Justice Legislation Amendment (Police and Other Matters) Act 2019
      • State-wide rollout of body worn cameras including the practical and evidentiary implications of these significant changes.


    Attending this session will give you the opportunity to submit ‘questions on notice’ prior to the session and participate in a Q&A discussion with our expert speakers making this a valuable event for any senior practitioner.
