Affidavits are one of the most important documents used in family law proceedings. Preparing a clear and concise affidavit is critical to your client’s case and sets out the evidence your client is relying on to persuade the court to make the orders sought in their application or response.

In this practical online workshop, facilitator Stacey Taylor will help you improve your drafting skills when preparing affidavits. Stacey will also touch on the applicable rules of evidence, the legal principles that apply in different types of proceedings and the rules that apply in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

    Affidavits are one of the most important documents used in family law proceedings. Preparing a clear and concise affidavit is critical to your client’s case and sets out the evidence your client is relying on to persuade the court to make the orders sought in their application or response.

    In this practical online workshop, facilitator Stacey Taylor will help you improve your drafting skills when preparing affidavits. Using examples, she will demonstrate and contrast writing styles and techniques for different types of affidavits in family law matters.

    Stacey will also touch on the applicable rules of evidence, the legal principles which apply in different types of proceedings and the rules which apply in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. 

    Participants will get the opportunity to work in small groups to practice their drafting skills on a range of common client scenarios.

    Please note that this workshop is limited to 30 participants.

  • Facilitator

    Stacey Taylor, Barrister, Holmes List

    Stacey comes to the Bar with over 15 years’ experience in family law and related jurisdictions.  As a solicitor, Stacey was an LIV Family Law Accredited Specialist and an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Law between 2012 and 2019.

    Prior to specialising in family law in 2006, Stacey spent two years working in general practice in the areas of criminal law, wills and estates, property law and conveyancing. Stacey worked at several boutique and mid-tier firms in Melbourne, specialising in family law, before coming to the Bar.  Stacey accepts briefs in all areas of family law and related jurisdictions in local, regional and interstate Courts.

    Stacey is a Nationally Accredited Mediator.

    Stacey read with Chris Nehmy. Her senior mentor is Minal Vohra SC.
