      This inaugural Practice Management Conference will commence with an interactive discussion between an interviewer and our keynote speaker. The questions will cover what people need to know when launching their start-up company or firm, the key challenges they can expect to face and how they can overcome them.

      This session will look at new and emerging issues in the area of practice management, including a look at the findings of the Deloitte study published in June 2016, “Future Trends for Legal Services – Global Research Study”.

This final session will give you an overview of why it’s important to think about succession planning even if you’re just starting out, as well as the processes and procedures you can put into place to ensure your firm is ready for your exit when you are. This will be a half-hour seminar followed by a half-hour panel discussion to give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    of Australia’s mid-top tier firms. Jack brings over 20 years’ experience in the legal industry and a
    passion for applying technology to the practice (and business) of law. A dual qualified lawyer in
    Queensland and the UK with eight years on the development of "best practice" legal technology solutions,
    Jack leads product development and operations of Open Practice.

    Marco Zanon, Acting Manager Investigations, Law Institute of Victoria

    Marco holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a Member of CPA Australia. He has been an LIV trust account investigator since 2014 and is experienced in providing education and practical support to law practices to assist with their compliance obligations. Prior to joining the LIV, Marco worked in an accounting practice providing external audit, taxation and business services. Additionally, he has more than 20 years’ experience in ASX listed companies in internal audit and finance manager roles.

    Michael Dolan, Senior Ethics Solicitor, Law Institute of Victoria

    Michael has gained extensive experience as a country and city solicitor, as well as in-house counsel for both a major statutory corporation in Victoria and an Australian electricity supply industry association. Michael provides advice to solicitors on ethics issues and supports the work of the LIV Ethics Committee.

    Heather Hibberd, Chief Risk Manager, Legal Practitioners’ Liability Committee

    Heather joined the LPLC on secondment in 1999 and became a permanent member in 2001. Prior to this, she practised as a solicitor for eight years in insurance litigation, in particular acting for the LPLC in defending claims against lawyers. As a risk manager, Heather has written many articles and bulletins on a wide range of risk management topics for lawyers. She writes the LPLC’s quarterly newsletter, In Check, and has spoken at many forums to lawyers across Victoria.

    Carly Adamson, Director and Executive Coach, The Thought Partnership

    Carly is an executive coach who has helped thousands of individuals achieve business and career success.
