Legal assistance funded through Victoria Legal Aid is significant for many regional and suburban practices. Together with services delivered through VLA’s staff practice, critical services are provided to highly vulnerable and disadvantaged clients throughout suburban and regional Victoria in the criminal, family, child protection and family violence jurisdictions. COVID-19 has amplified these vulnerabilities and placed a range of stressors on practitioners and the justice system.
Providing insights into the impacts of COVID-19 on the legal assistance sector and adaptations that Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) has made, VLA's executive director of regions and service delivery Peter Noble and executive director of legal practice Dianna Gleeson will enhance your understanding of the realities within this organisation.
Topics include:
-
Impacts of COVID-19 on the legal assistance sector and wider justice system
-
Adaptations that Victoria Legal Aid has made to assist clients and legal practitioners during the pandemic
-
Opportunities for greater engagement with Victoria Legal Aid into the future and its intersection with your practice.
