As face-to-face interactions will continue to be limited, hearings will continue to be conducted by audio-visual means, where cases are progressed without the need for participants to attend the Court in person.

    Moderator - Dimitra Dubrow, Principal Lawyer, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, Accredited Personal Injury Specialist

    Dimitra is a Principal Lawyer and head of Maurice Blackburn’s medical negligence and asbestos and dust diseases national practices.  She is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Personal Injury Specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in medical negligence claims and representing families in coronial investigations. Dimitra is a member of the Law Institute’s Litigation Executive, Public Liability and Medical Negligence and AMA/LIV/Vic Bar Medico-Legal Committees.

    Presenter - The Honourable Justice Jacinta Forbes QC

    Justice Forbes joined the Victorian Bar in 2000 after practicing as a solicitor. She was appointed Queens Counsel in 2014. Her Honour practiced in the areas of professional negligence, personal injury, and general common law matters both at trial and appellate level. In April 2019 she was appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria. Presently Justice Forbes sits in the Common Law Trial Division and is the Judge in charge of Information Technology at the Court.

    Presenter - Sarah Codde, Digital Litigation Business Transformation Manager, Supreme Court of Victoria

    Sarah manages the Supreme Court of Victoria's Digital Litigation Team, which was established in 2019 for the purpose of supporting the judiciary, associates, practitioners and other Court users through the transition from paper based litigation to eLitigation, and currently virtual hearings as part of the Court’s response to Covid-19. The Digital Litigation Team is responsible for coordinating and managing the user experience (internal and external) around the Court’s development of policy and practice around all elements of the Court’s engagement with technology in courtrooms, as it relates to the hearing experience.

    Presenter - Adelle Abdelahad, eLitigation Coordinator, Supreme Court of Victoria

    Adelle Abdelahad is the the eLitigation Coordinator in the Digital Litigation team for the Supreme Court of Victoria. This role is responsible for providing high quality, responsive and user-focused services, acting as a focal point for the judiciary and all court users (internal and external) engaging in eLitigation. Currently she manages the coordination of Webex bookings and assist with Zoom hearings in eCourts, providing support to the judiciary and legal profession in navigating new technologies and practices as the Court adapts to the new eCourt environment. Adelle also manages a team of support staff who’s role is designated in providing troubleshooting assistance within the virtual hearing environment. This includes testing participant connection prior to hearings and being a source of information as required.
