    Panellist: Lee Carnie, Strategic Advocacy and Policy Manager, Civil Justice, Victoria Legal Aid

    Lee is a human rights lawyer with experience in strategic litigation, advocacy, research, and political engagement. They work as the Strategic Advocacy and Policy Manager at Victoria Legal Aid on economic and social rights, mental health, discrimination and migration, and previously advocated for LGBTIQ+ rights as the founding Director of Legal Advocacy at Equality Australia, and Australia’s Charter of Human Rights campaign at the Human Rights Law Centre.

    Panellist: Maurice Stuckey, Policy Lawyer, Law Institute of Victoria

    Maurice is a Policy Lawyer at the Law Institute of Victoria, managing the portfolios of criminal law, sports law, tech and innovation, family law and access to justice. In this role, Maurice advocates on behalf of Victorian lawyers to state and federal governments, royal commissions, the courts, parliamentary inquiries and the media.

    Panellist: Tal Shmerling, Senior Legal Adviser, Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission

    Tal Shmerling is a senior legal adviser at the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. At the Commission, Tal works on cases raising important human rights and equality issues, reports on the operation of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities and develops evidence-based submissions which deliver law reform and social change.
