Justice Connect

Justice Connect was formed when PILCH NSW and PILCH VIC merged on 1 July 2013.

Justice Connect is an independent, not-for-profit organisation with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. It is committed to delivering access to justice by providing pro bono legal services to people experiencing disadvantage and the community organisations that support them. It does so by matching organisations and individuals who are ineligible for legal aid and cannot afford a lawyer to lawyers and barristers willing to act on a pro bono basis.

Justice Connect works in collaboration with law firms, barristers and individual lawyers, as well as institutions like the Law Institute of Victoria, the Victorian Bar, community legal centres, Legal Aid, government and philanthropy.

Justice Connect coordinates a number of programs:

  • Pro bono Referral Service (Melbourne & Sydney): pro bono legal referrals to our member lawyers and the management of the pro bono programs of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIVLAS) and the Victorian Bar.
  • Homeless Law (Melbourne): our specialist outreach service for clients experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
  • Seniors Law (Melbourne): our specialist outreach service for older clients with a legal issue associated with ageing, including clients experiencing or at risk of elder abuse.
  • Not-for-profit Law (Melbourne & Sydney): our specialist legal service for not-for-profit organisations.
  • MOSAIC (Melbourne & Sydney): Migrant Outreach Services – Advice, Information and Community Education, our specialist outreach service for recently arrived migrants, asylum seekers and refugees.
