The Law Institute of Victoria Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) has won the 2006 Australian Young Lawyer Awards professional issues category for its survival handbook.

Young Lawyers’ Survival Handbook: An essential guide for articled clerks and young lawyers was released in March this year.

The YLS Professional Development Committee spent five months collating vital information for the first five years of a lawyer’s career.

More than 150 people attended the Law Council of Australia awards in Western Australia on 2 November.

Blake Dawson Waldron solicitor Beth Midgley received the Young Lawyer of the Year Award for her contribution to the marginalised and disadvantaged.

The New South Wales Young Lawyers Human Rights Committee Ministerial Legal Clinic won the community issues category.
