Lawn bowls, trivia, social dinners and stand-up comedy all featured during the annual Regional & Suburban Young Lawyers Week in October.

Legal Laughs, a joint event organised by three suburban law associations, attracted more than 20 young lawyers to the Comics Lounge in North Melbourne.

Co-organiser Rhiannon Reid, a solicitor with Maurice Blackburn in Reservoir, said the night was a great success and provided an opportunity to get to know other young lawyers in a social setting. “It was a chance to relax and network with drinks before dinner and the comedy show which featured comedians including Dave O’Neil.”

Other events included an evening on the greens in Warrnambool, organised by the Western Law Association, which despite the rain was a success.

Geelong Law Association held a trivia night which attracted 25 young lawyers, while in Gippsland, solicitors dressed up in traditional Oktoberfest outfits for their Sunday Sippers event.

The Regional & Suburban Young Lawyers’ Week is held annually and is an opportunity for lawyers across the state to get together informally and network with their peers.
