LIJ's online upgrade

The online version of the LIJ has undergone recent changes to improve functionality and reader interaction.

These include the placement of tabs above feature articles which give prominence to widely recognised icons of individual networking sites.

The tabs, including Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and other popular e-networking channels, allow readers to forward major news and legal feature articles to others in their social networks.

The online version of the LIJ also now features a comments section for members and subscribers, enabling them to provide their point of view on the cover article, other feature articles, news articles and the LIV president’s and CEO’s columns.

Along with the above changes, the LIJ Twitter account, @theLIJ, continues to gather followers.

The Twitter presence proved immediately popular following its 1 October launch and, within two weeks, @theLIJ had attracted 230 followers, including law firms of all sizes, barristers, judicial organisations, legal publishers and other bodies – all potential re-publishers of the LIJ’s articles.

As of 11 November there were 316 followers. The vast majority of these are Melbourne-based and the site is becoming a hub for the local legal community. However, a number of followers are lawyers and legal organisations from interstate and overseas.
