Federal Court Justice Susan Kenny has been appointed as a part-time member of the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC).

Justice Kenny has been a Federal Court judge since 1998 and before that a judge of the Victorian Court of Appeal.

Her appointment coincided with the reappointment of University of Sydney Faculty of Law Associate Professor Brian Opeskin as a full-time member of the ALRC.

Federal Attorney-General Daryl Williams also announced that Queensland barrister Tim Carmody QC had been appointed to the Family Court. He will sit in Brisbane where he will replace the recently retired Justice Travis Lindenmayer.
