Town painted red on Black Friday

It may have been nominally “Black Friday”, but the 550 young professionals who attended a networking evening on Friday, 13 May didn’t seem to be a superstitious lot.

In fact, everyone appeared to have a great time, Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) Young Lawyers’ Section manager Susan Ng said.

Ms Ng said the aim of the evening was to provide young lawyers with an opportunity to meet young professionals from a variety of professions.

The organisations involved in the evening included the LIV, CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Engineers Australia, Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Melbourne Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Australian Institute of Management.

“We wanted to show them that networking can be about meeting new people that you get along with and building on those relationships throughout the course of your career,” Ms Ng said.

Young Lawyers’ groups are also strong in the suburbs and regions with a small group from Geelong Young Lawyers’ taking part in the last Blues Train run of the season on 28 May.

Other events planned include a networking event in Geelong, an Eastern and Northern Suburbs joint bowling event on 15 July and a social event in Warrnambool on 22 July.
