Victorian Law Foundation – Everyday-Law

The Everyday-Law website was launched in May 2014 by the Victorian Law Foundation. It was developed to help the general public with not only understanding the law in Victoria but also how to seek help with their legal matters. It contains information on how laws are made, how to find a lawyer and how to access legal and government services. There is also a news and events section, and a link to what’s happening.

ABC Radio National’s The Law Report

If you miss a segment of the ABC Radio National program The Law Report, presented by Damien Carrick and broadcast every Tuesday, then you can either listen to it online or download the podcast from this ABC Radio National webpage. Alternatively you can read the transcripts that are provided with each news feature. If you want to follow the program then The Law Report also has its own newsletter that you can register for under the subscribe link, or you can follow them on Twitter.

Pandora: Australia’s web archive

Pandora, an acronym for Preserving and Accessing Networked Documentary Resources of Australia is a digital archive established by the National Library of Australia. Its goal is to archive significant Australian websites and electronic publications that may be needed for research purposes. This means you can search the site to check for items such as government reports, broadcasts, manuscripts or historical documents that may no longer be available on their own sites.

Fair Work Commission – News and Events

The Fair Work Commission’s website publishes relevant quarterly reports within its About us–News & events tab. Recently published is the release of the Commission’s first anti-bullying quarterly report under its new jurisdiction. This report, which proves to be an interesting read, covers 1 January to 31 March 2014 and provides statistical information on the 151 applications received during this period and their resulting status.

Fair Work Commission – Anti-Bullying

If you work in employment law and need to get up to speed with the recent changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) regarding bullying, then take a look at these anti-bullying pages published on the Fair Work Commission website. The webpages provide information on what constitutes bullying at work, as well as the eligibility and process of lodging an application. A link to a 62 page anti-bullying bench book is also a useful tool for those needing to prepare material for matters before the Fair Work Commission.

Practice Sections

The LIV practice section content has received a facelift and has a vanity URL so that you can access information relevant to each of the 15 sections quickly and easily. You will find information about each section, latest news updates, related professional development activities and events, publications, practice resources, submissions, information on the section committees and a link to the careers centre.┬áIt’s a one-stop-shop to help lawyers stay up-to-date.
