New and improved Young Lawyers Journal

The new-look Young Lawyers Journal has sprung into life with a mantra of providing its readers with up-to-date information for forging a career in the law.

Written and edited by young lawyers for young lawyers, the journal will dispense relevant and timely advice for fledgling practitioners to both overcome life and professional challenges and improve their outlook.

LIV Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) manager Anna Alexander said the journal would now more than ever deliver its readership in-depth analysis of current issues, career and workplace advice and other important member information.

“There will be more articles that are designed to provide support and provide information for young lawyers when they need it,” Ms Alexander said.

“It will suit everyone, accommodate their interests and be more relevant for the readership.”

The new-look journal, which begins with its winter edition, will be mailed to young and later lawyers this month.

The Young Lawyers Journal will regularly provide career advice, professional updates, opinion pieces, event photos and personal reflections from regional young lawyers on their lives and experiences.

It will also feature a legal profile item, “From the Hot Seat” and a “Did You Know?” section profiling a current issue of importance. In the winter edition, Supreme Court Justice David Habersberger finds himself in the “Hot Seat”, while supervised workplace training is explained in-depth.

Each edition will also include several relevant feature articles, the winter edition containing information designed to assist young lawyers navigate their way through the global economic storm.

YLS president Kate Harry said a lot of work had gone into making the new Young Lawyers Journal relevant to its members.

“The Young Lawyers Journal, along with the young lawyers’ monthly email LawBytes, aims to provide a one-stop-shop for young lawyers,” she said.
