About 1000 law students took the opportunity to learn more about their post-university options at the annual Victorian Council of Law Students Societies Careers Fair, where law firms and practical legal training providers were available to answer questions.

The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) used the occasion to inform students about free student membership to the LIV and its associated benefits, including access to the profession.

Law student members of the LIV have access to Young Lawyers’ Section membership, a comprehensive library, members-only resources in practice areas on the LIV website and general advice from LIV staff.

Young Lawyers’ Section manager Susan Ng said about 90 students signed up for LIV membership during the three-hour fair, held at the Melbourne Convention Centre on 6 September.

LIV Advocacy and Practice, Events and Membership Services representatives were also present to answer students’ questions.
