Glamorous acquaintances

Briefs

Amid sweeping, natural curves, chevrons, sunburst motifs, bakelite radios, streamlined ocean liners and the rare Westchester sedan, accountants and lawyers worked on getting acquainted.

“The Art of Networking” brought LIV and CPA members together at the National Gallery of Victoria, on 3 September, to view the collection “Art Deco 1910-1939”.

Borrowed from London’s famed Victoria and Albert Museum and other public and private collections around the world, more than 300 works covering all artistic media were on display.

Most of the 180 guests felt they were back in the Roaring 20s, lapping up the aesthetics and opulence evident in industrial items, architecture, fashion design and home wares, Cartier jewellery, photography and painting.

The exhibition, which opened in late June, was scheduled to close on 5 October.
