150 years of service celebrated

The LIV 2009 annual report marks an important year.

In March this year the organisation celebrated its 150th anniversary - making it the longest serving legal representative body in Australia.

LIV CEO Mike Brett Young said the knowledge and experience the LIV has developed over the past 150 years is the foundation of the strong position it remains in today.

"Like any other organisation, the LIV has not been immune from the effects of the global financial crisis. However, with the dedicated work of staff it has maintained its services to members in a fiscally responsible way," he said.

The LIV has also worked hard to maintain a strong membership base.

"There has been a percentage increase in membership and of note is the 22 per cent increase in student membership."

There has also been strong growth in membership of LIV Sections with all but one recording an increase in member numbers, Mr Brett Young said.

As with the past couple of years, and in line with the LIV's move to be more environmentally friendly, the annual report will be available online from early this month at www.liv.asn.au.

Members who wish to receive a hard copy should email annualreport2009@liv.asn.au or ph 9607 9311 during business hours.
