Persons engaged in work performing and being responsible and accountable for their own work which is performed within established guidelines. They may exercise limited discretion within the range of the skill and knowledge under general supervision (e.g. qualified architects, persons admitted to practice as barristers and solicitors who are practising their profession, certified practising accountants, chartered accountants).

The above award rates of pay are based on:

  • a 38-hour week;
  • gross figures; and
  • do not include superannuation.

Employees on (or near) award rates of pay are entitled to overtime for work performed in excess of 38 hours a week.

Casual rates: The casual hourly rates of pay consist of two components, and should be shown separately on pay slips: (i) Hourly rate, plus (ii) 25 per cent casual loading to compensate employees for loss of sick and annual leave and for unpaid public holidays.
