Open House Melbourne

More than 1600 people explored the Supreme Court of Victoria on 27 September as part of Open House Melbourne. Members of the public learned about the history of the 162-year old building as well as the role of the court today.

Hive Legal launch

New law firm Hive Legal was launched on 31 July. Founders – Mitzi Gilligan, Jacinda de Witts, Simon Davidson, Jodie Baker and Peter Monk – have reimagined the traditional law firm model, providing alternative fee arrangements and flexibility to allow remote working.

Monash law school turns 50

The Monash law faculty celebrated its 50th anniversary at a dinner on 28 June. Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Warren spoke at the event, sharing memories of her time as a Monash law student. Chief Justice Warren is pictured with Monash law dean Professor Brian Horrigan and Chief Justice of the High Court Robert French.

LIV Legal Careers Fair

More than 600 final and penultimate year law students attended the LIV Legal Careers Fair on 10 July. Students were given the opportunity to participate in mock interviews and learn more about career opportunities in city and regional areas. Frank Galbally Cup

The annual barristers versus solicitors football match was held on 27 July at Victoria Park. The fiercely contested game resulted in a draw. Now in its ninth year, the Frank Galbally Cup has raised nearly $175,000 for Reclink Australia. The solicitors team is pictured with coach Ken Sheldon.
