LIV Library: Planning your COVIDSafe Visit

The LIV Library will reopen by appointment only with limited access to LIV members and member of the legal profession from Friday 18 June 2021.

Opening hours are 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday.

Book your visit

Contact the library by email ( ) or phone (03 9607 9360) to book your visit time.

Visits will be restricted to 15 minutes and visitors will be required to meet COVIDSafe entry requirements.

Please be aware that we must comply with space caps. If we have more visitors than permitted, you may be requested to wait in the level 13 foyer or on the ground floor or return at another time. To avoid disappointment, bookings are highly recommended. Bookings also allow staff to assist with your request in advance of your visit.

Conditions of entry

Visitors will be required to:

  • report to level 13 reception before heading to the library
  • sign-in using a QR code
  • sanitise your hands prior to entry
  • have your temperature taken
  • wear a mask at all times (unless you have a medical exemption)

Please stay home if you are feeling unwell.

Returns and loans update

From Friday 18 June 2021, borrowing privileges will resume. Items that have been reserved, either through the online catalogue or by speaking to a librarian, can be picked up from the level 13 reception desk. A booking is not required to pick up reserved items.

The return dropbox located at reception will also reopen from Friday 18 June. Bookings are not required to return library material.

The due date of all items borrowed before Victoria's lockdown has been extended to Wednesday 23 June 2021.

What you can and cannot access at the library

Visitors are able to:

  • Browse the collection for up to 15 minutes
  • Request photocopies from staff at the library reference desk

Suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions:

  • Use of library space to study or work
  • Use of the photocopier (though you can request to have copies made by library staff)
  • Use of computer workstations. This includes access to internal databases. You can complete a document supply form to obtain digital copies of material available through these databases while computers remain are unavailable. Please complete this form electronically prior to visiting the library and email your completed form to
