Young Lawyers Annual General Meeting

The 2020 LIV Young Lawyers Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held from 5.30pm-7.00pm on Wednesday 25 November 2020 (via zoom).

2021 YL Executive Committee

 

2021 Vacancies on the LIV Young Lawyers Executive Committee included:

President
As President you would:

  • Liaise with the Law Institute of Victoria YL Manager, LIV Council and 2021 President;
  • Chair and lead the meetings of the Executive Committee (minimum of 5) and the AGM;
  • Review and approve minutes of your meetings;
  • Deliver the Annual Report for the YL Committee;
  • Work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of YL members, including law students, graduates and young lawyers.


Vice-President
As Vice-President you would:

  • Assist the President proactively and through delegation of tasks;
  • Represent the YL committee alongside and in the absence of the President;
  • Work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of YL members, including law students, graduates and young lawyers.


Co-Chair Positions
As a Co-Chair you would:

  • Sit on the YL Executive Committee as a representative of your Committee;
  • Formulate agendas for your Committee meetings together with the assistance of YL;
  • Chair and lead the meetings of your relevant Committee (minimum of 5) ;
  • Review and approve minutes of your Committee meetings;
  • Work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of YL members, including law students, graduates and young lawyers.
     

Regional and Suburban YL Representatives
As a Regional or Suburban YL Representative you would;

  • Sit on the YL Executive Committee as a representative and voice for regional and suburban YL members;
  • Maintain regular contact with fellow YL Law Association representatives and report back to the YL Executive Committee;
  • Chair virtual quarterly meetings with YL Law Association representatives with the assistance of YL; and
  • Work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of regional and suburban YL members.
     

Later Lawyers’ Network Representatives
As the Later Lawyers’ Network Representatives you would:

  • Sit on the YL Executive Committee as a representative and voice for later lawyers;
  • Work with the YL Professional Development Committee to work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of later lawyer YL members;
  • Formulate working groups to work on specific projects, as required.
     

YL Executive Advisors
As the YL Executive Advisors’ you would:

  • Assist the YL Executive as needed and represent the interests of all YL members.
  • Work on projects and initiatives for the benefit of YL members, including law students, graduates and young lawyers
  • Please note: YL Executive Advisors do not chair meetings or prepare agendas.


An election will be held at the AGM if there is more than one nomination for a position.

A Young Lawyers Section member is entitled to appoint another member as his or her proxy by notice given to the Young Lawyers Manager by no later than 5pm, Wednesday, 18 November 2020. The prescribed Proxy Form is available here.
