About Legal Compliance

The LIV is the Victorian Legal Services Board’s delegate for regulatory functions relating to:

  • trust account compliance
  • external examinations
  • compliance audits
  • CPD compliance
  • fidelity fund investigations.

The LIV also undertakes external interventions of law practices, on appointment from the Board.

Uniform Law

  • Regulation of the Victorian legal profession – the LIV is no longer responsible for issuing practising certificates or receiving complaints about lawyers.

External Examination

  • Change to Examination Year - The trust account reporting period for law practices is now 1 April to 31 March in the following year. Read more
