About Legal Compliance

The LIV is the Victorian Legal Services Board’s delegate for regulatory functions relating to:

  • trust account compliance
  • external examinations
  • compliance audits
  • CPD compliance
  • fidelity fund investigations.

The LIV also undertakes external interventions of law practices, on appointment from the Board.

Uniform Law

  • Regulation of the Victorian legal profession – the LIV is no longer responsible for issuing practising certificates or receiving complaints about lawyers.

Professional Standards Scheme

The Scheme is a statutory professional standards and consumer protection scheme, established under the Professional Standards Act 2003 and enforced by the courts.

  • PC Fee Increase

    The Legal Profession (Practising Certificate Fees) Regulations 2012 (the Regulations) fix the fees payable for Victorian practising certificates (PCs). The Regulations are due to sunset on 30 June 2017.
