As we approach the 30 April deadline for renewal of practising certificates, I have been wondering whether there may be a better way to manage this process.

The provisions of ss15 and 16 of the Uniform Law confirm the long held role of the Supreme Court of Victoria to admit a person to the (Australian) legal profession only if that person is appropriately academically qualified and is “fit and proper” to be admitted to practise as a lawyer.
