LIV Council update

LIV Council update

By LIV Media

Communication Leadership

The monthly LIV Council report will now be sent to members in LawNews.

Previously, the report detailing Council business was published in the LIJ.

The transition to a digital-only report is the result of wanting to deliver LIV operating news to members immediately. We welcome feedback on this initiative:

At the August 23 meeting, directors:

• Discussed planning for the upcoming annual strategic planning day ,with a briefing from Integrity Governance which will facilitate the day

• Received the Call to Parties advocacy document ahead of the State election in November, to be published in October LIJ

• Received an update on the fit-out of the LIV’s new headquarters at 140 William Street

• Received the unaudited LIV financial report for 2017-18

• Approved the operating budget for 2018-19, including forecasting for the next three years

• Appointed an investment manager for the LIV, with authority to implement the LIV Investment Policy Strategy

• Appointed a number of directors to the LIV Nomination and Remuneration Committee

• Appointed two returning officers to oversee the 2018 LIV election, with a third to be named by the LIV president by early September. A call for nominations will be advertised mid-September 2018.  Elected members of Council are to be announced at the AGM on the 21st November 2018.

• On recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, approved appointment of an LIV representative to the Supreme Court Costs Committee and a director to the Melbourne Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Centre

• Received monthly reports from the LIV president, CEO and membership

• Approved amendments to the LIV/REIV Real Estate Contract of Sale to reflect that the Real Estate (Contracts) Regulations 2018 had lapsed
