A casual vacancy has arisen on the LIV Criminal Law Section Executive Committee and Section members are invited to express interest in taking up the position. (The duration of the position is until the next Section AGM in or around November 2018).

About the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee sets the overall agenda and policy direction for the Criminal Law Section. The Committee aims to represent the widest possible cross-section of practitioners in criminal law. The members are also active contributors to the information sharing function of the Criminal Law Section’s General Committee consisting of over one hundred members.

The Executive Committee meet at least eight times a year on a Tuesday at 4.30, with the next meeting scheduled for 27 February 2018.

Nomination process

Interested practitioners are invited to nominate for the position by submitting a short summary of their experience relevant to the work of the committee and are also welcome to provide an outline of the reasons for their interest and any special contribution they can make.

Nominations are to be submitted by COB 21 February 2018, by email to CriminalLawSection@liv.asn.au

Nominations will then be distributed to the Executive Committee for a secret ballot and candidates advised the outcome by 26 February 2018.

The selected candidate will need to be a member of the Criminal Law Section’s General Committee at the time of taking up the position. In the event the selected candidate is not already a member of the General Committee, the LIV’s Legal Policy staff will arrange membership.
