Several years ago the University of Melbourne conducted a detailed survey over an extended period with a range of participants identified at random, including myself, to observe the effect of the seasons and changing weather on their moods. It would come as no great surprise to learn that the study showed that dark, gloomy and wet weather over a lengthy period caused the participants to feel different degrees of depression, lethargy and anxiety. The survey highlighted how various factors in our society can impact on us – some that we can change and some that we cannot.
