Commercial R4917 – February 2017 — Conflicts concerning current clients ASCR 11 When a firm acts for more than one company in a commercial transaction, clients must provide written informed consent and a firm may need to establish an effective information barrier in order to protect current client confidential information. Firm A wishes to act for an existing overseas client in a commercial transaction involving a United States parent company A selling its Australian subsidiary B to an Australian business competitor company C which is also a current client of the firm.
