Where are they now?

Where are they now?

By Karin Derkley

Practice & Procedure Workplace Young Persons

In the second part of a series started two years ago, the LIJ catches up with four young lawyers to see how they are faring in their careers. Two years ago the LIJ profiled four recent law graduates in the first of a series tracking their journey as lawyers. Simon Ly, Matthew Martin, Reem Nassef and Kimberly Parker came from a range of backgrounds, and each had recently found a position working in very different areas of the law – a top tier law firm, a community legal centre, a suburban commercial law firm and a regional general practice. With record numbers of law students and strong competition for jobs in the law, we were curious to see how these new entrants to the profession would fare over the years. Each has very different dreams of where their career might lead them. Two years down the track, what has been their experience and how has it changed their idea of what it means to be a lawyer?
