In a demanding and stressful profession it is important to create a positive environment. This year wellbeing and resilience building is a key part of the Victorian Women Lawyers (VWL) agenda. As lawyers, we need to acknowledge that we must take time to care for our wellbeing and health to be able to realise our professional potential. What is wellbeing? Professor Martin Seligman writes that it “is a combination of feeling good as well as actually having meaning, good relationships and accomplishment”. But in an overwhelmingly adversarial, demanding and stressful profession, can lawyers have wellbeing?
