Any conversation about sustainability in the legal profession has to take into account the "missing middle" currently not receiving any legal advice, CEO of the Legal Services Board Fiona McLeay said. "Lawyers have got to move on from competing for the same pool of clients," she told a panel discussion on Sustainability of Legal Practice in the 21st Century, hosted by Monash University Law Chambers as part of Law Week. Ms McLeay cited a Law and Justice Foundation survey that found that only 16 per cent of Australians with legal problems sought advice from legal professionals to help them.
