The LIV congratulates all members of the profession in Victoria recognised in the Australia Day honours list for 2020.

The LIV offers congratulations to all those in the legal profession who received Australia Day Honours.

Recipients included LIV past president and elder law committee chair Bill O’Shea (AM) and Law Council Australia and Victorian Bar past president Fiona McLeod SC (AO).

Officer (AO) in the General Division
  • Fiona McLeod SC – For eminent service to the law, and to the legal profession, at the national and international level, and to women lawyers.

Member (AM) in the General Division

  • Rosemary Theresa Landford Addis - For significant service to social innovation and impact investment and to the law
  • David Edmund Curtain QC - For significant service to the law, and to professional legal organisations
  • Emeritus Professor Jeffrey Goldsworthy - For significant service to education, particularly to legal history and philosophy
  • The Honourable Hartley Roland Hansen QC - For significant service to the law and to professional associations
  • Dr Suzanne Bridget McNicol QC - For significant service to the law and to the legal profession
  • William (Bill) O’Shea - For significant service to the legal profession and to the community
  • Sabine Cornella Phillips - For significant service to aged welfare and to the legal profession
  • Emeritus Professor Staniforth Ricketson - For significant service to legal education and to intellectual property law
