The Law Institute of Victoria is disappointed by ongoing political attacks on the Victorian judiciary and the questioning of independent expert advice that is given by members of the legal profession.

LIV President Belinda Wilson said “It is the job of highly experienced and professional lawyers and barristers to give independent advice without fear or favour. It is totally inappropriate to question the professionalism of this advice.”

Ms Wilson said the Victorian community can have absolute trust in the legal profession and the courts to give advice and make decisions, based on expert advice, experience and the rule of law.
