On Monday 25 February 2019 LIV president Stuart Webb welcomed Amanda Mansini as a Deputy President and Leyla Yilmaz as a Commissioner of the Fair Work Commission.

"May it please the Commission.

I appear on behalf of the Law Institute of Victoria and the solicitors of this state to welcome Amanda Mansini as a Deputy President and Leyla Yilmaz as a Commissioner.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we gather and pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and to any Elders with us today.

As we have heard, each of you bring enormous experience and talent to these roles in support of the crucial work in shaping workplace law for Australia.

My learned friend the Honourable Kelly O’Dwyer - Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations and Minister for Women – has previously noted that you each will ensure that the Commission continues to play a vital role ensuring our workplace relations system operates in a fair and transparent manner.

Ms O’Dwyer also highlighted that you both will ensure the Commission operates in a transparent manner to promote a constructive and cooperative environment for Australians in the workplace.

Deputy President Mansini, your credentials are enriched by your 94-year-old grandfather Norman James Mansini who was a Commissioner for many years in three now-former related peak bodies.

Extremely proud, of course, that his granddaughter now follows in his footsteps, Mr Mansini has little doubt you will fulfill and execute your duties with honour.

Commissioner Yilmaz, your dedication to the profession and, for many years, in senior positions with the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce, has defined your commitment to hard work and professionalism.

The breadth of your expertise includes representing the interests of predominately small business, occupational health and safety and the promotion of women in the automotive industry. The nuts and bolts, so to speak, of the essentials.

Your passion for youth employment opportunities is also admired. The solicitors of Victoria warmly congratulate youth both and wish you success in these new careers.

May it please the Commission."

Stuart Webb
