The LIV provided a submission in response to the Victorian Government’s Draft Action Plan for improving the welfare of animals in Victoria. The submission highlights the need to establish an independent oversight body to develop evidence-based, national standards and guidelines and recommends further consultation on appropriate enforcement mechanisms of such standards. The LIV will continue to monitor the implementation of the final Action Plan and hopes to play an active role in assisting to develop laws to improve animal welfare in Victoria.
