Access to Justice Review Report: LIV Response

Access to Justice Review Report: LIV Response

In October 2016, the Department of Justice & Regulation submitted its Access to Justice Review Report to the Victorian Attorney-General. The LIV made a submission to the Review in March 2016, and participated in extensive consultations with the Department.

The LIV’s submission in response to the Report responds to each of the Department’s recommendations. In particular, the LIV welcomes the Report’s:

  • focus on innovation in relation to the current structures and governance of Victoria’s publicly funded legal service providers
  • recognition that current state and federal funding levels are insufficient to meet demand
  • acknowledgement of the benefits of integrated modes of service delivery
  • exploration of the way in which the technology can assist in making legal services more accessible.

The LIV looks forward to further consultation with the government on the Report’s recommendations.
