In a recent submission to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DEWLP) the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) has made recommendations to the Independent Review of the Wildlife Act 1975

The LIV's submission calls for the modernisation of the Wildlife Act, including the redefinement of its objectives and purposes and modernising the offence provisions of the Act in line with other Australian jurisdictions.

The LIV's submission also recommends updating key definitions to protect wildife and an increase in clarity and transparency involving provisions permitting the use of wildlife in Victoria.
