Pictured: Foodbank Victoria CEO Dave McNamara Jacob McCahon is a member of the LIV Young Lawyers Law Reform Committee. He is working with other members on a project to tackle food waste. Jacob spoke with Chris Scott to learn more about Foodbank Victoria – an organisation providing food to those in need. Can you tell us a little about Foodbank Victoria? Foodbank Victoria is the largest food recovery distributor in the state. We provide more than one million kilograms of food and other items to Victorians in need every month. We use a large warehouse in Yarraville to sort the products that we collect and receive from food donors. Our community and corporate volunteers are responsible for sifting through and packing items to be given to charities. We have been operating since 1930 and have built strong relationships with 480 donors (including manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and large corporate players in the food industry). We are in close contact with more than 470 charities who provide our food to hungry Victorians
