"Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation.” Kofi Annan. As young members of the legal profession, we have lived through a rapidly changing world, primarily driven by technological evolution and global assimilation. Our generation has embraced change and inherently developed an acceptance of innovation as part of our daily lives. In this YLJ we look at innovation, how it may impact our future and our work as lawyers. We hope readers engage with the ideas in this special issue to assist with their development as young lawyers. As future leaders in the profession, we have the opportunity to pursue innovative pathways to define the future direction of legal practice. Within the profession, innovation has been evident, albeit somewhat measured. While stability is to be commended, improvement should be acknowledged as an evolutionary development, a consequence of societal transformation. Lawyers are inclined to be more traditional than many other professions, and there is value in that. However, young lawyers are becoming less fearful in recognising that legal work will evolve and transform.
